Our Manufacturing Research 12 ga Dummy Training Round has a “high brass” base and the actual height is 2 5/16″ or 59 mm which is equivalent to most 2 3/4″ shotshells. Our 12 ga dummy training round weighs in at 50 grams or 1.76 ounces. Most live 2 3/4 shot shells weigh between 30 and 50 grams or 1.05 to 1.76 ounces, so our dummy round closely resembles the actual weight and feel of a live round.

Our Manufacturing Research dummy training rounds, or snap caps, are made of a single piece of solid aluminum CNC machined to the exact tolerances of live ammunition. The color is anodized so it won’t flake off and will hold up better than a paint. Most are colored RED to make identification easy.
They will feed and function in semi-automatics with reliability, and can be used as a snap cap training round. The aluminum construction is made to absorb the shock of a firing pin strike.
